In his first game back active for the Minnesota Vikings, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater gets a little emotional on the Vikings sidelines in the first half.

Despite having issues at quarterback all season long, the Minnesota Vikings took their NFC North leading 6-2 record to the nation’s capital to play the Washington Redskins in Week 10. Though Case Keenum was still starting for the Vikings, a lot attention was being paid to the other quarterback on the Minnesota sidelines in Teddy Bridgewater.

Bridgewater’s ghastly preseason injury in 2016 was well publicized. He nearly lost his leg on a freak play during the final week of practice in Vikings training camp. Minnesota had to act fast and traded for former Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Sam Bradford to hopefully save their 2016 NFL season.

Flash forward a year and a half later and Bridgewater was finally active for an NFL game. Bradford has been shut down with another injury in his injury-riddled career. It is a big moment for Bridgewater to even dress for an NFL game. Of course, he got a little emotional on the sidelines in the first half versus the Redskins.

Bridgewater was a first-round pick out of Louisville by the Vikings in the 2014 NFL Draft. After leading the Vikings to a division crown in 2015, it seemed that he was poised to take that next leap as a franchise quarterback. Then the injury happened and it derailed his career.

Though he hasn’t played a snap for Minnesota since the 2016 NFL preseason, Bridgewater remains the emotional leader of this offense. If and when he does make a return to the gridiron, all of football will rejoice.

Many thought his career was over after that preseason injury, but he has certainly persevered to almost make it back. With Minnesota very much in the playoff picture in the NFC, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him play under center for the 2017 Vikings down the home stretch.
