The Justice League movie’s runtime will be the shortest of any in the DC Extended Universe. How long will it be?

The Justice League movie will hit theaters as the latest superhero film, following Thor: Ragnarok, which was recently released. It sees Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, the Flash and Wonder Woman team in an all-star adventure of famous DC Comics heroes. This incarnation of these five characters haven’t hit the big screen together, but a handful of them made cameos in other DC flicks (the Flash in Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice).

DC-Warner Bros. movies are known for being longer than your typical Marvel picture. All four went at least two hours, 15 minutes, including Dawn of Justice crossing two hours, 30 minutes.

Justice League will be different, however. It’s set to run for one hour, 59 minutes, for a total of 119 minutes. It’s a far cry from the previous four DC-Warner Bros. movies, potentially the start of a trend that can carry into AquamanCyborg, Flashpoint, Suicide Squad 2 and Wonder Woman 2.

A shorter runtime means the action will be compacted. It’s less airtime for the main characters, but potentially calls for more quality scenes, rather than a lengthy set-up that’s impacted previous DCEU films.

The runtime doesn’t mean everything, however, as it can’t be the sole factor of a movie being quality or poor. Cast, character depth, plot and premise arguably mean more than long how the film is, so these should be traits to analyze and critique Justice League.
