ESPN College Pick Em Week 12: Go all in on Georgia!

How can it be week 12 already? Pick em only has three weeks left. I had a solid week in pick em in week 11 with 39 points. I still have a long ways to go and very little time to do it though.

Fun facts for week 11: Boise State was the only clean sweep of the week. Four of us had it as our 10 pointer. Briana Prete was the only one to pick Georgia Tech

MaizeNBlue led the Fantasy CPR reader’s pick em group with 47 points this week. This was his second straight week leading the way for the group. Congratulations!

annelbaldwin still leads the group with 486 points on the season. earleyca is in second, but is also 12 points out of first. Gamebreaker_boz moved back into third place in the group with a strong week. Newcomer TheMediumLebowski is in fourth with SDShelton holding down the fifth spot. I am up one spot to 12th, but am still 19 points out of the top ten. I need a big week!

(1) Texas over West Virginia:

I am worried about that Texas offense and their inability to move the ball. The West Virginia defense has not been great though, so if – and this is a big if – Texas recommits themselves to running the ball first, they take this game. I expect it to be really close though.

(2) Memphis over SMU:

A lot of people have a lot of confidence in Memphis, but I can tell you that SMU is a lot better now than they were earlier in the season. Ben Hicks is a good quarterback, and Courtland Sutton can shred this Memphis defense. This is going to be high scoring, and it’s going to be close. Things can get crazy in high scoring games.

(3) North Carolina State over Wake Forest:

The Deacons have been victims of some bad luck. They are one of the better 6-4 teams around. I have this game lower than most because this is a rivalry, and it’s in Winston-Salem. Wake is tough at home, and the Wolfpack are coming off of a really tough game against Boston College. It wouldn’t surprise me much if Wake won outright.

(4) Boise State over Air Force:

Boise’s defense is really going to be tested here. So will Air Force’s. Boise is hitting their stride on offense, and I tend to think that they are going to pile up a lead here and force Air Force to throw. Then things will get messy.

(5) Michigan over Wisconsin:

Brandon Peters has avoided the mistakes that John O’Korn and Wilton Speight made drive after drive. He has yet to turn the ball over, and that really is all Michigan needs from their quarterback. Higdon, Evans, and Isaac are all capable backs. Wisconsin has a good defense and wont allow many points, but Michigan’s defense is better, and Wisconsin, specifically QB Alex Hornibrook, has struggled against good defenses. Michigan is easily the best team Wisconsin has played this year, and it will show.

(6) Wyoming over Fresno State:

The Bulldogs have gone belly up lately, and this game is in Laramie. Laramie in November is going to be really cold for these valley boys. The only saving grace for the Bulldogs is that it’s an afternoon game. Wyoming shouldn’t have much of a problem with this one.

(7) TCU over Texas Tech:

TCU may not have shown it against Oklahoma, but they have a really good defense. They didn’t allow a point in the second half to the Sooners. The Texas Tech offense is good, but they are also one dimensional for the most part. Oklahoma stopped them cold for three quarters, and the Sooner defense leaves a lot to be desired. TCU pulls away in the second half.

(8) Oklahoma State over Kansas State:

The Mildcats have shown back in up Manhattan again. Their fatal flaws from early in the season are being exploited on a weekly basis. The Kansas State defense is good enough to stop Oklahoma State a couple of times, but that offense has been awful lately. This is going to get ugly because K-State can’t move the ball.

(9) USC at UCLA:

The Trojans offense is starting to fire on all cylinders right now. That’s bad news for UCLA. The Bruins defense is still a mess. I know this is a rivalry game, but UCLA simply does not have the talent to keep up here. Not that I think that the Trojans are invincible. They are just going to look like it for a week.

(10) Georgia over Kentucky:

I could name a dozen more games that should be on here over this one. Why not put Oklahoma-Kansas on here? The margin of victory will be about the same. I’ll take the free ten points, but I would venture to bet that at least 90% of players will do the same with their ten point game.
