Main’s Mavericks – Week 11 DraftKings NFL GPP Picks
Main’s Mavericks – Week 11 DraftKings NFL GPP Picks
Main’s Mavericks is providing weekly Draftkings NFL GPP contest advice by searching out low-salary, boom-or-bust plays destined to outperform value. As a general rule for this article, I target players below $5,000. My goal is to pick value plays who I believe can exceed 4-5 times their value (EX: $5,000 player x 4 = 20DK Pts). I will be using all of my picks in Week 11 DraftKings NFL GPP tournaments as boom-or-bust punt options. Saving on these volatile players will allow you to pay-up for superstars when building that $1,000,000 lineup.
How I did last week:
Case Keenum 4,800 @ WAS (28th Priced QB) – 29.06 (4th QB)
Bilal Powell 4,000 @ TB (38rd Priced RB) – 3.60 (>50th RB)
Tarik Cohen 3,800 vs GB (52nd Priced RB) – 2.10 (>50th RB)
Marqise Lee 4,100 vs LAC (46th Priced WR) – 19.50 (15th WR)
Marquise Goodwin 3,800 vs NYG (56th Priced WR) – 17.10 (18th WR)
Adam Humphries 3,100 @ SEA (87th Priced WR) – 3.70 (>50th WR)
David Njoku 2,600 vs v NYJ (30th Priced TE) – 1.30 (39th TE)

The week 10 article was labeled with “High-Upside” for a reason. I dug really deep into the grab bag for a few of those picks, and unfortunately not all of them rewarded us. I bought a lot of Adam Humphries stock last week and it really bit me. Bilal Powell looked like a sure winner with Forte out, but he was totally shut down by the Tampa Bay defense. Luckily, I was able to recoup some of those losses with great days from Marquise Goodwin and Marqise Lee. Another bright spot was Keenum, who played so well that Teddy Bridgewater officially lost his starting job.
David Njoku is going to break out eventually! I am going to play him in lineups until he does. The guy got 7 targets last week and was only able to bring in 1 target. Meanwhile, Seth DeValve had 10.00 DK points on 6 targets. What is promising is that Njoku finally played more snaps than DeValve (per FantasyPros.com). So do not be surprised if Njoku makes it in future articles.
Through week 11, Main’s Mavericks has 11 top 10 finishers at their respective positions’. 6 of those top 10 finishers ranked 5th or better, with 3 1st overall finishes (CJ Anderson week 2, Jerick McKinnon week 6, TY Hilton week 9).
DraftKings NFL GPP Picks
QB:
Blaine Gabbert 4,900 @ HOU (25th Priced QB)
Houston has given up an average of 27.03 points to opposing QBs over the past 4 weeks (fantasy.nfl.com). Yeah, but its Blaine Gabbert. The Texans last 4 games have been against Jared Goff, Jacoby Brissett, Russel Wilson and Kevin Hogan. I think Blaine Gabbert will fare just fine. It is worth noting that Drew Stanton is questionable with a knee ligament sprain. I do not think he will play, but if he plays I would lean Nathan Peterman 4,700 @ LAC.
RB:
Samaje Perine 3,800 @ NO (54th Priced RB)
Rob Kelley was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, and ESPN.com reported that Perine will be the lead dog this week. We saw what this kid can do in college when given an opportunity. I think his floor is 10 DK points, and his ceiling is a convertible. I cannot imagine this game being low scoring, so I love the scoring potential for Samaje this week.
Rod Smith 3,400 v PHI (75th Priced RB)
Rod Smith’s 38 snaps were more than Alfred Morris (22 snaps) and the rest of the Dallas Cowboy backfield combined. Smith was also targeted 6 times out of the backfield in a blowout loss to the Falcons (fantasypros.com). If the Cowboys fall behind the Eagles powerful offense, then we could see another pass-heavy approach from the Cowbooys. I believe that would again favor Smith.
DraftKings NFL GPP Picks
WR:
Jamison Crowder 4,300 @ NO (44th Priced WR)
Crowder has been a target monster of late. He has 35 targets in his last 4 games. A price tag of 4,300 for the highest total (51 per vegasinsider.com) on the board this week? DraftKings definitely left some low-hanging fruit for us this week. Let’s eat – insert Zeke Elliot’s eating celebration.
Terrence William 3,800 v PHI (55th Priced WR)
T-Will put up huge numbers a couple weeks ago against a poor Kansas City secondary, then laid an egg last week in a blowout loss to the Falcons. That poor performance will have most people off T-Will this week, meaning even better value for a WR averaging over 5 targets per game over the last 4 weeks. Not to mention, he is going up against a secondary that has been torched multiple times this year. Love the upside in this play.
Dontrelle Inman 3,200 v DET (79th Priced WR)
Here is another chemistry play for ya. Trubisky and Inman have not played much together, but already appear in sync. Against Green Bay, Trubisky targeted Inman 8 times, completing 6 for 88 yrds (per DraftKings). The only real threat to Inman’s success is if Detroit sticks shutdown CB Darius Slay on him this week.
TE:
Jermaine Gresham 2,800 @ HOU (20th Priced TE)
If Blaine Gabbert does in fact start at QB this Sunday, then I am all in on Gresham. One, Houston’s defense has been epically bad this year. Two, Gabbert is a check-down machine. Three, Gresham has a TD and double digit DK points in each of his last two starts.
