5 landing spots for Tyrod Taylor in 2018

The writing is on the wall for Tyrod Taylor as a member of the Buffalo Bills, so here are five teams he could land with in 2018.

Not that he played well in Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints, but it’s as if it’s Tyrod Taylor’s fault the Buffalo Bills allowed 298 rushing yards in the game. Taylor has been benched in favor of rookie Nathan Peterman for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers and probably the rest of the season, barring injury.

Taylor restructured his contract to stay with the Bills this year, but that does not change that a new head coach and general manager probably didn’t want him. A $6 million bonus due to him next March will surely seal Taylor’s fate, and he’ll be searching for a new team.

The dearth of good quarterback play in the league will bring plenty of suitors for Taylor, who Pro Football Focus has ranked as a top-10 quarterback through 10 weeks this season. He’s hardly a flawless player, but a remarkably low career interception rate (1.5 percent), running ability and a career average of 7.2 yards per pass attempt are acceptable strengths.

Once Taylor is inevitably available, these five teams could come calling.

5. Minnesota Vikings

Case Keenum is playing well so far this year, and it seems to be a matter of time before Teddy Bridgewater takes over with an eye on him being the Vikings starter next year. But right now Minnesota has no quarterbacks under contract for 2018, with Sam Bradford unlikely to return after another injury-riddled season.

Taylor could be brought in as the outright starter for the Vikings. There are questions right now about how Bridgewater will look once he does take the field after a significant knee injury. It’s possible he looks greatly diminished, despite the perception of upside a lot of Vikings fans have. That would put the Vikings in the market for a quarterback, if only as legitimate competition for Bridgewater.
