Redskins at Saints: Preview, prediction, odds and pick
By John Buhler
The New Orleans Saints will host the Washington Redskins on Sunday afternoon in Week 11. Here is the game preview, the betting odds and a final score pick.
It’s already Week 11 of the 2017 NFL season. One game that you will not want to miss on Sunday afternoon will be the showdown between the Washington Redskins (4-5) and the New Orleans Saints (7-2). Kickoff from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans will be at 1:00 p.m. ET on Nov. 19. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will be in the booth to call it on behalf of FOX.
Washington enters play 4-5 on the year. While the Redskins may inevitably come up short of making the NFC playoffs, they have gotten great play out of quarterback Kirk Cousins this year. Even after losing his former offensive coordinator and his two best wide receivers, Cousins is putting together another solid season. He will be making top dollar when he hits free agency this spring.
New Orleans is the hottest team in football. At 7-2, the Saints have won seven straight games. This team is eerily similar to the one that won the Super Bowl at the end of the 2009 NFL season. The Saints have a balanced offensive attack and a swarming defense. This might be the team to beat in the NFC this year.
Betting Odds
Point Spread: New Orleans -7.5
Moneylines: New Orleans -370, Washington +326
Over/Under: 51
According to OddsShark, the Saints will be laying 7.5 points at home to the visiting Redskins. The associated moneylines for this game are New Orleans -370 and Washington +326. This game’s over/under comes in at a combined 51 points.
With this game being in a dome with two strong passers in Cousins for the Redskins and Drew Brees for the Saints, let’s go with the over in this one. Could we be getting a good, old-fashioned New Orleans barn burner in this one? Potentially, but this might be lower-scoring than you’d expect it to be.
Look for the Saints to come out and score two touchdowns on their first two possessions. Washington might struggle a bit out of the gate, but Cousins will rally and have the Redskins right in the thick of things.
The Saints will lead for the entire game with Cousins pushing down the field on a final potential game-winning drive. Washington will be down 28-24 with about three minutes left. Cousins will get the Redskins into field goal range. However, they need a touchdown.

On a fourth down, Cousins will have his pass tipped and intercepted by rookie Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore to seal it. The Saints will win, but the Redskins will cover the lofty 7.5-point spread to lose by just four points.
Pick: Saints 28, Redskins 24
