Napoli are first in Serie but are only one point ahead of defending champions Juventus. For the first time in years, Serie A is extremely tight at the top. Napoli, Juventus, and Inter Milan are separated by two points. While Lazio and Roma are four and five points behind the league leaders respectively. On Saturday, Napoli host seventh-place AC Milan, who have been disappointing this season.

In their last game before the international break, Napoli was held goalless for the second time this season, drawing with Chievo. Only Juventus have scored more goal than Napoli this season. Belgium striker Dries Mertens has scored 10 goals for the club. Since Maurizio Sarri took over as manager, Mertens career has taken off. Prior to Sarri arriving, Mertens lined up as a winger and secondary striker but was moved to center forward. Last year, in his first full season under Sarri, Mertens scored 28 goals.

AC Milan were busy in the summer signing expensive players with the goal of reaching Champions League. However, Vincenzo Montella’s side are playing like a mid-table team and could ultimately fire Montella if he does not go on a winning streak. Leonardo Bonucci has been very disappointing since joining the club from Juventus. Bonucci has been mistake-prone and foul prone. In 10 games, Bonucci has picked up three yellow cards and a red card. Offensively, Suso has been Milan’s best player. The Spanish winger has scored five goals, including three in his past five games.
