The Calgary Stampeders host the Edmonton Eskimos at McMahon Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 19. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

The battle of Alberta will decide which team advances to the Grey Cup. The Calgary Stampeders cruised to the West Division title and a home playoff game. Calgary went 13-1-1 in their first 15 games but lost their last three games. Edmonton was also streaky this season. The Eskimos won their first seven games, lost their next six before winning their last six. Last week, Edmonton crushed Winnipeg, leading 39-16 with 11:16 remaining, eventually winning 39-32.

The fate of the Stampeders relies on the health of quarterback Bo-Levi Mitchell’s throwing shoulder. Mitchell played through an injury all season but was rested the last week of the season, giving him an extra week to rest before Sunday’s game. The Stamps are hoping that the extra rest will improve Calgary’s passing game. Calgary was the only team in the CFL that did not have a 1-000 yard receiver. Running back Jerome Messam ran for over 1,000 yards for the second straight season but was less effective and faded in the second half. Calgary needs Messam to have a good game on Sunday if they are going to control the clock and keep Edmonton’s high-powered offense off the field. To counter Mitchell and Messam, Edmonton will rely on their front four to get to Mitchell and prevent the running game from getting going.

Defensively, Calgary will rely on their defensive line getting to Mike Reilly. Charleston Hughes lead the CFL in sacks, while Micah Johnson was tied for third. Alex Singleton is a heavy favorite to win Most Outstanding Defensive Player but he will have his hands full with C.J. Gable. The Edmonton running back is one of the hardest backs to tackle in the CFL and a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield.

The Eskimos will go as far as their explosive offense carries them. Against Winnipeg, Reily threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns, while Gable adding 144 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. Edmonton’s receiving core of Adarius Bowman, Brandon Zylstra, and Derel Walker are three of the best receivers in the league. Last week, the trio was able to get behind Winnipeg’s defensive backs and pick up big gains. However, getting points will be much more difficult against a Calgary defense that allowed the fewest points per game in the regular season.
