CARSON, CA - NOVEMBER 19: Nathan Peterman

Richard Sherman is out for the season, but he has strong opinions about guys who squandering a chance he doesn’t have.

Nathan Peterman was historically bad on Sunday. Five interceptions in the first 30 minutes of his career will do a lot to a guy’s confidence and that was a reality for Buffalo in a 54-24 loss to Los Angeles.

Proper context is needed to fully appreciate just how atrocious Peterman’s day was. After a loss in Week 10, Bills head coach Sean McDermott benched starter Tyrod Taylor, despite the fact that it was pretty unwarranted. Taylor isn’t great but he’s far from a scrub and has fewer turnovers on the season than Peterman posted in a single game.

The decision to bench Taylor was universally chastised and Peterman gave everyone the ending we expected. He was spectacularly bad, and Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was at the forefront of those pointing and laughing at the Bills for making such an asinine decision.

Sherman is out for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury, so there’s an extra layer of bitterness here. Watching Peterman squander his playing time — of which a competitor like Sherman would kill to have — must have made this agonizing to witness.

Taylor eventually came into the game after halftime and led the Bills to 17-points during his time on the field. Buffalo ultimately lost the game and fall to 5-5 in the process. Baltimore has leapfrogged them in the standings which means the BIlls are currently out of the playoff picture.

That’s the cost of starting Peterman over Taylor, which is greater than any troll Sherman could have tweeted out during the game.
