This week on Supergirl, a mysterious pod brings a familiar face back to National City. Meanwhile, Sam reaches out to her estranged mother to try to understand what is happening to her.

This is it, the Supergirl episode that is sure to divide the fandom. And it all depends on how people feel about Mon-El. The Daxamite prince was last seen leaving Earth to escape the lead now in the atmosphere. Now he has returned and he is not alone.

As revealed in the casting announcement for Imra/Saturn Girl and the promotional images for the episode, Mon-El went through a portal to the future. There he met Saturn Girl and they started a relationship. Somehow, the spaceship they were on crashed in the past, underwater near National City.

This week, Supergirl discovers the spaceship. And now she must deal with the return of a changed Mon-El, in addition to the arrival of Saturn Girl.

Here is the synopsis of the episode, “Wake Up”, from SpoilerTV.

"When Winn (Jeremy Jordan) and the team discover an alien ship has crash landed deep underwater beneath National City, Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) is called in to investigate. Meanwhile, Hank (David Harewood) attempts to bond with his father, Myr’nn (guest star Carl Lumbly). Samantha (Odette Annable), eager for some understanding of the changes she has been experiencing, looks to her estranged mother, Patricia Arias (guest star Betty Buckley), for answers."

From the synopsis, there is some good news for those who aren’t Mon-El fans, as there are a couple other interesting and important storylines not including the Daxamite. The biggest one being the arrival of Samantha’s estranged mother. After discovering that she is suddenly bulletproof, it makes sense that Sam would go searching for answers.

Hopefully, Patricia can provide some details about Sam’s early days on Earth for the fans. For Sam, this will likely be the episode where she learns she is not from this planet. Maybe it is that revelation that will be the final push in her transformation into Reign.

This episode of Supergirl also marks the return of Carl Lumbly as Myr’nn. Now reunited on Earth, J’onn is trying to bond with his father. It is good to see that the show has not forgotten that J’onn brought his father back from Mars with him.
