The 2017 American Music Awards arrive with an American Idol preview. Here’s how you can watch the American Music Awards live on TV and online.

The American Music Awards are here, as the biggest names in music converge in Los Angeles on Sunday for another massive awards ceremony that ABC has packed with special performances.

The 2017 American Music Awards feature a show-opening collaboration between Kelly Clarkson and Pink, as well as performances by Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Niall Horan, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Imagine Dragons and Korean pop group BTS, just to name a few on what’s a very long list (it is a three-hour show).

In addition to revealing the American Music Awards winners, ABC is also using Sunday’s awards ceremony to officially kick off American Idol season 16 a few months early. AMA viewers will be able to watch a select number of Idol auditions and vote for who they think should get a pass to the Hollywood Round when the new season begins in March. The winner of the American Idol vote will be revealed by Lionel Richie on Monday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars.

So by tuning in Sunday night, music fans will not only learn the American Music Awards winners, but they could also be voting for the future American Idol season 16 winner as well. This isn’t your usual awards show. There’s a lot going on this weekend and you don’t want to miss any of it.
