Is Justice League in IMAX? As the DC Comics blockbuster heads to movie theaters this Friday, movie fans are wondering if one of the year’s biggest films is going to get film’s biggest and best treatment.
The answer is yes, Justice League is in IMAX. But only to a certain extent. There’s a Justice League IMAX release, but not a Justice League IMAX 3D release. We don’t know why the movie isn’t being released on both IMAX platforms, but for now, you’ll have to choose between seeing Ben Affleck’s hair in 3D or seeing the whole film in a top-notch presentation.
The decision to make the film available this way is a strange decision for studio Warner Bros., which had previously released the four other DC Extended Universe films in both IMAX versions. Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman were all released in both standard and 3D, and as movie fans know, all those films raked in plenty of money at the box office.
So why not do the same for the movie that’s supposed to tie many of those characters together? That’s more of a mystery than whether or not Superman is going to turn up in this film. After all, who wouldn’t want to see a giant three-dimensional Cyborg popping off the screen with insane clarity? Or be able to see Wonder Woman break out her Lasso of Truth in the highest definition? There are so many missed opportunities by not giving this movie the full treatment.
