It’s hard to remember a Disney movie as pleasantly surprising over the past few years than Big Hero 6. Very loosely based on an obscure Marvel Comics team of the same name, the movie told a tale full of action, humor and the very real question of how to deal with loss. It also introduced the world to the lovable robot Baymax, who is front and center in the all-new special Baymax Returns.

If you’ve seen the movie, it’s not a spoiler to talk about the robot coming back, as Hiro Hamada unexpectedly managed to save the chip with his personality on it. The special is actually the lead-in to Big Hero 6: The Series, which will continue the adventures of Hiro and his friends next year.

Intriguingly, advance reviews of Baymax Returns suggest that the particulars of his recovery bring some surprises. As well, the heroes don’t necessarily want to jump right back into costumed crimefighting, so it should be interesting to see what brings them back together as a team.
