Does FedEx deliver on Thanksgiving?
If you have a package due to be delivered near Thanksgiving Day, you need to know whether or not FedEx delivers on Thanksgiving and we have the answer.
Thanksgiving Day is one of the few holidays that is observed across the board by almost every agency and business that doesn’t deal with retail sales. FedEx, along with the United States Postal Service and UPS, will not deliver on Thanksgiving Day.
All FedEx locations will be closed and there will be no pickups on Thanksgiving Day. This applies to all FedEx shipping methods including Ground, Home Delivery, Express and Smart Post. Anything shipped Wednesday will remain in transit until Friday when normal business starts again.
Another matter to consider when it comes to FedEx delivery, and all delivery, for that matter, is whether or not your shipments due around Thanksgiving will arrive before or after Thanksgiving Day. Check your tracking information for details so you know when your package will arrive with the holiday.
You’ll also experience a delay in shipping if you shop online on Thanksgiving Day. Since Thanksgiving is not a business day, nothing will ship out until your order has been processed. You can imagine that Friday will be a very busy day for online retailers and shipping companies, so don’t expect to see your items arrive in exactly two days unless you live near the warehouse.
It’s also very important to note that even if you’re a member of Amazon Prime, your deliveries will not arrive on Thanksgiving Day. Some independent shippers might deliver on Thanksgiving, but this is the exception, not the rule. You can bet, though that as Amazon and Walmart expand their forays into grocery deliveries, there will be advances in holiday shipping in the future. For now, there will be no deliveries even if you have a Prime membership.
