Giants at Redskins: Preview, prediction, odds and pick
We’re getting ready to see the New York Giants and Washington Redskins on Thanksgiving night at FedExField. Which team will prevail in this contest?
You don’t have to remind Washington Redskins’ head coach Jay Gruden about the team’s final game of the 2016 regular season. The site was FedExField and the opponent was the New York Giants. With the opportunity to nab a playoff berth, the team fell at home to Eli Manning and company, 19-10. All told, Big Blue has won six of the last eight meetings between the longtime rivals dating back to 2013.
Gruden also knows that despite a disappointing year for the Giants, Ben McAdoo’s club comes off a 12-9 overtime upset of the Kansas City Chiefs. He also knows Manning and his mates have prevailed in three of their last four appearances in Landover, Maryland. The Redskins get ready to host a Thanksgiving game for the first time in franchise history. And it’s less about revenge and more about staying in the NFC postseason chase.
Odds
Line: Redskins (-7.5)
Over/Under: 44
Two straight losses by the Redskins didn’t stop the oddsmakers from installing Washington as a 7.5-point favorite on Thursday evening (via OddsShark). And with two teams that rank near the bottom of the NFL in points allowed, that over/under of 44 may be too low to pass up.

Just when it appeared that this unit had turned things around, the Washington Redskins’ defense has taken its lumps the last two weeks. And while quarterback Kirk Cousins seemingly continues to get the blame for the team’s shortcomings, the fact remains that this is still not a complete football team. That being said, it’s been a disastrous showing for the New York Giants in 2017 and this could wind up being a very long night in D.C.
Pick: Redskins 35, Giants 21
