AUSTIN, TX - OCTOBER 21: Sam Ehlinger

The Texas Tech Red Raiders face the Texas Longhorns on Friday, Nov. 24 in college football week 13, and here is all the info you need to watch.

It has not been the season that the Longhorn fans were hoping for. Texas was expected to compete with the Sooners for the Big 12 crown this year, with a new offensive guru in Tom Herman coming to town. But the year has not gone as planned. Texas is 6-5 right now and just trying to win their way into a good bowl. Texas Tech, on the other hand, needs to win this game just to become bowl eligible. This is a better Texas team that we have seen in the past, and Texas Tech is looking to bounce back after a terrible game against TCU last week.

Texas Tech has always had a terrific offense, and this year is no different. The offense is led by quarterback Nic Shimonek, who has thrown for over 3450 yards and 28 touchdowns. Usually, when you throw that many touchdowns, you have a guy that you trust to throw a lot of those touchdowns too. This year, Keke Coutee is that guy. Coutee has been racking up the stats this year, as he has over 1070 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. If Texas Tech is going to beat you, Shimonek and Coutee will do most of the damage.

When Texas hired Tom Herman, we were expecting to see a much different offense. It really has not changed much from the Charlie Strong years so far. Coming into the year, Shane Buchele was expected to lead the offense. Under Herman, freshmen Sam Ehlinger has been the one who can make this offense tick. He is leading the Longhorns in both passing and rushing statistics. Ehlinger has thrown for over 1650 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for over 330 yards and two touchdowns. Texas may be bowl eligible already, but expect to see Herman’s boys ready to play on Friday.
