Despite just a disastrous season in 2017, the Florida State Seminoles still have the hope of keeping their impressive bowl streak alive.

The 2017 college football season for the Florida State Seminoles has just been a downright disaster. Coming into the season with many calling them the national championship favorite, after a loss to Alabama in the opening game of the year while also losing starting quarterback Deondre Francois, everything just fell apart for head coach Jimbo Fisher and this squad. As a matter of fact, things have gone so downhill for the ‘Noles this season that, at one point, some were wondering whether or not their vaunted bowl game streak would finally be snapped; they’ve appeared in 35 straight bowl games, the longest streak in the nation.

Well, it doesn’t look as if Florida State fans will have to worry about not being able to travel to see some postseason action.

Florida State came into the final week of the regular season needing two consecutive wins to hit six on the year and become bowl eligible, with the first chance at a victory coming against the rival Florida Gators, another program that’s been on the slide in 2017. When it was all said and done, Fisher and Florida State move one step closer toward returning to another bowl game with a convincing 38-22 victory over the Gators.

While this was the final weekend of the regular season in college football, Florida State added a game to their slate on Dec. 2. To help their bowl standing, the Seminoles rescheduled a game for next weekend against a 4-6 Louisiana Monroe team that they should be able to handle to reach the ultimate goal of extending their impressive streak.

Throughout the mayhem that has been the 2017 season for the Florida State Seminoles football program, there was a small light at the end of the tunnel. However, make no mistake about one thing — fighting tooth and nail just to be considered as a bowl participant will not be something that will be tolerated come the 2018 season. Fans and boosters will accept what happened this year, for the most part, but much more will be expected out of Fisher, a returning Francois and the rest of this team.
