The name change from the NBA Development League to the NBA G League has been met with  some chagrin and derision. On this episode of Fastbreak Breakfast focusing on the G League I explain why it is actually a really good name. Does my guest, expert Dakota Schmidt (@Dakota_Schmidt) from Ridiculous Upside, agree?

In addition to debating the merits of the new name, we address the following G League related topics:

  • How does one become a fan of the G League?
  • Were there any surprising or notable moments from this year’s draft?
  • Which players have stood out so far this season?
  • What are veterans like Kendrick Perkins and Emeka Okafor hoping to achieve by playing?
  • Why doesn’t every NBA team have their own G League team yet? What are we waiting for?
  • Are two-way contracts even a good thing for players? Are they good for anyone?
  • Is the Wisconsin Herd logo terrifying or terrifyingly awful?
  • What are the best rules in the G-League that the NBA should consider adopting?
  • Do teams that are located a short car ride from their parent NBA team have an unfair competitive advantage?
  • Has any NBA team without their own affiliate ever sent a player down to the G League for the express purpose of espionage?
