In what could be the last game of his college football career, Lamar Jackson went out by getting into a fight with Kentucky players.
Lamar Jackson has had an interesting college career. In 2016, he dazzled fans and pundits alike by putting up video game numbers en route to a Heisman Trophy. This year, he’s put up very similar statistics but has largely flown under the radar as far as Heisman recognition goes. And when it comes to the NFL Draft, many believe he’d be better off switching to wide receiver.
Even when his numbers are excellent, Jackson is prone to having the occasional stinker. Take last season, when he threw three interceptions against Kentucky and lost 41-38 as the Cardinals fizzled out.
There’s a good chance that both Jackson and Kentucky remember that game fondly, so even though Louisville got off to a better start, things got heated on the sideline:
Louisville isn’t playing for much at this point, but the last thing Jackson wants to do is lose to Kentucky twice in a row. However, this won’t help his cause when NFL scouts start to evaluate him. His fiery temper has been on display quite a bit in recent weeks, and it could well result in a draft day slide.
It doesn’t help his team either, since Kentucky is now more motivated than before to take down their biggest rivals. You expect tensions to be high during a rivalry game, but there’s no need for stuff like this. If they’re able to come back and win this game, this fight could very well be the turning point.

This is not the way Lamar Jackson should be capping off his college career. Louisville still has a bowl game to look forward to after this, but there’s no guarantee Jackson will even play it.
