The West Virginia Mountaineers face the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, Nov. 25 in college football week 13, and here is all the info you need to watch.
The Oklahoma Sooners have looked like one of the best teams in the country all year. With marquee victories over Ohio State and TCU, it is hard to argue anything against how they are playing. But with quarterback and Heisman frontrunner Baker Mayfield’s sideline antics last week against Kansas, something just does not feel right about this week.
Head coach Lincoln Riley announced Mayfield will not start but will play on Saturday. So that means Kyler Murray will start in his place. Murray was a five-star transfer from Texas A&M and makes his first start for the Sooners. West Virginia comes in with one of the best defenses in the Big 12, sounds like a familiar story, right? TCU came in boasting one of the best defenses in football, until Mayfield came in and shredded that defense to pieces.
West Virginia is going to look like a completely different team on Saturday. Not only is Baker Mayfield not going to start, but Will Grier is out for the game as well. Grier has thrown for over 3,400 yards and 34 touchdowns. Chris Chugunov gets the start in place of Grier and has only thrown for 270 yards this season.
If the Mountaineers are going to top the Sooners, they are going to need their weapons to shine. Justin Crawford has rushed for over 960 yards and seven touchdowns. Chugunov may be starting in his first game, but he is going to need Gary Jennings to have a big game. Jennings has over one thousand yards receiving and only one touchdown this year. He is going to have to break through this Sooner defense.
