BIG3 Commissioner and President Roger Mason Jr. is eyeing even bigger names as the league gets ready for year two.

Roger Mason Jr. stopped by the FanSided offices full of holiday cheer. The BIG3 continues its preparations for year two after a successful year one that Mason Jr. was very pleased with.

“The nostalgia of the league in year one was real,” Mason Jr. reflected. “A lot of the feedback that we got from the fans, was that the basketball was good. Ultimately for the league to have success, yes people want to see these stars again, but it needs to be high level basketball.”

The league is hoping to add more high level talent to the court come year two. Ron Artest has already signed on and Mason Jr. is hoping for a lot more talent. Perhaps some of it will come from the Boston Celtics 2008 championship team.

“I think Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce are very interested in coming in,” Mason Jr. said. “Big Baby Davis I’ve been talking to and I have been talking to bird man Chris Andersen. There are a lot of guys who have reached out about playing this year. It should be fun.”

What about the biggest name of all? Is there any hope for 23?

“The competitor in Michael Jordan, there is no doubt he would love to play I think,” Mason Jr. offered. “But, obviously he is an owner of a team and from a time standpoint this is not the league to put one foot in and one foot out.”

Mason Jr. finished his NBA playing career with Miami seeing the LeBron James show up close. It was a special time for him.

“They called themselvesThe Heattles for a reason. Every arena you are getting the best shot, the fans, there is an energy in the arena. Getting to go to the White House seeing Obama, Michelle, it was a great way to end my career.”

How does he compare James to Jordan?

“It’s hard for me because I grew up watching Michael Jordan dominate and then I ended my career with LeBron and saw his greatness. They are different players. If you have to say who you are going with, Michael Jordan has six championships and LeBron doesn’t. Both of those guys to me are the greatest to ever do it.”

Mason Jr. is partnering with Rémy Martin’s MVP experience while encouraging consumers to enter his court-side style contest. He is also launching a new celebrity social app, Vaunt.
