Jahlil Okafor still hopeful the Sixers will trade him
Jahlil Okafor has been in limbo with the Philadelphia 76ers since the season began, and is growing frustrated he’s still apart of the team.
The Philadelphia 76ers are notorious for their “trust the process” slogan, highlighted by Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, their high profile lottery picks. On the outskirts of the process is Jahlil Okafor, their third year big-man who’s become adequate with the bench, despite slimming down entering the season.
In an interview with Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Okafor relayed his frustrations with the organization
"“I would like for them to just send me somewhere where I can get an opportunity,” Okafor told ESPN. “I’ve done everything they’ve asked of me and I would just like to get an opportunity to play with a trade or a buyout. I just hope something happens quickly.“This is my third year in the NBA, and I know it’s a business. I don’t know if it’s fair or not, but in talking to other people in the NBA, talking to retired players, one thing I’ve heard them say is that what’s going on with me isn’t right and they’ve never seen anything like this before.“I know it’s business, but in my eyes, I don’t know if it’s good business."
Okafor, 21, has been in trade rumors since last season and nothing has yet to materialize due to the Sixers’ high asking price for him, f
rom requesting two first-rounders and a respectable player to just a second-round pick. Despite the Sixers lowering their asking price for their big-man, the ESPN scribe relays that more than half of the league is interested in acquiring Okafor. It’s just a matter of when and how.

Philadelphia is still optimistic they can find a trade partner involving Okafor, despite him favoring a buyout in the open market.
