Timing struck in a big way on Monday Night RAW. After Sunday’s crazy day in Knoxville, RAW emanated from Thompson-Boling Arena. The Knoxville crowd decided to voice their frustrations towards AD John Currie.

In case you missed it, there was a debacle in Knoxville on Sunday. Tennessee was about to hire Greg Schiano as their next head football coach — until they didn’t. John Currie, who hasn’t completely eluded controversy as an AD at both Tennessee and Kansas State, became a lightning rod for frustrated Volunteer fans, alumni and former players in the aftermath. Some have gone to wonder if he will survive as athletic director in the wake of this latest messy situation.

In life, sometimes timing is everything. And only a day after the chaos, WWE Monday Night Raw came to town.

Raw is emanating from Thompson-Boling Arena, where the Vols and Lady Vols play basketball, of course, as well as the women’s volleyball team. Apparently, frustration is still trickling through the town, because much of the crowd decided to voice their frustration towards Currie again.

Let’s go to the videotape:

Cold world. Tennessee Athletics has heard it from all angles. The Press Secretary of the United States voiced her opinion. So did state politicians, and Knox County mayoral candidate Glenn Jacobs. You know, Kane, the wrestler, who still may very well appear on Monday Night Raw on Monday night. With the way things are going, The Big Red Machine may get the loudest ovation of the night, seeing as he had a hand in what happened on Sunday. Which would be hilarious, seeing as most fans haven’t quite liked the fact that he’s had a prominent role of late, which makes this even crazier.

And now, wrestling fans in Knoxville are directing their anger at Currie. It may never end in Knoxville at this rate, and there still could be more on the way.
