NFL quarterback rankings, Week 13: Alex Smith craters

The Kansas City Chiefs desperately need a win, but that’ll be hard to come by with Alex Smith looking terrified in clean pockets.

32. Paxton Lynch (Prev: NA)

Lynch isn’t an NFL quarterback. Not a starter. Not a backup. Not a scout teamer. Nothing. He has no business being in the league, and that was painfully obvious during his disaster of a start against the Raiders.

31. QB Browns (Prev: 32)

DeShone Kizer got knocked out of the game against Cincinnati, returned, and then promptly loss. With five touchdowns and 14 interceptions, the Browns might be drafting another quarterback come April.

30. Tom Savage (Prev: 29)

Savage is a backup in the NFL and little else. He can’t handle pressure, he doesn’t throw anybody open and despite having DeAndre Hopkins on his team, doesn’t throw any 50/50 balls. More like 10/90 balls.

29. Blake Bortles (Prev: 26)

Bortles has been bad this year, but not backbreakingly bad for the most part. That is until Sunday, when he tossed a horrendous fourth-quarter interception into the waiting arms of Tyrann Mathieu.

28. Blaine Gabbert (Prev: 30)

Gabbert beat his former team in the Jaguars, and dare i say it, looked competent. Nobody is getting excited about a renaissance here, but credit where it’s due. Gabbert played well enough to win despite a pick.

27. Jimmy Garoppolo (Prev: NA)

Garoppolo is going to start in San Francisco going forward, and so for the 1-10 49ers, at least there is something to be excited about the rest of the way.

26. Ryan Fitzpatrick (Prev: 25)

Completing 59 percent of your throws is nothing to be excited about in 2017, but Fitzpatrick has done a decent job of captaining the ship in Tampa Bay.
