Despite losing five of their last six games, the Kansas City Chiefs will not be making a change at quarterback prior to their NFL Week 13 game Sunday.
Through the first five weeks of the 2017 NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs were the only undefeated team left in football. Since then, they have been one of the worst teams in the NFL, losing five of their last six games. While fans are clamoring for rookie quarterback Patrick Mahomes II, the team is not changing their course and will be sticking with Alex Smith for the foreseeable future.
The Green Bay Packers released tight end Martellus Bennett due to an injured shoulder a couple weeks ago, and the New England Patriots quickly claimed him off waivers. On Monday, the Patriots put him on injured reserve, citing injuries to his shoulder and hamstring. Bennett won a Super Bowl with the Patriots last season, and the hope was he would be able to contribute alongside Rob Gronkowski and Dwayne Allen in the passing game.
Paxton Lynch made his first start of the 2017 NFL season on Sunday, as the Denver Broncos took on the Oakland Raiders. His start did not last the full four quarters, as he had to leave the game due to injury. In his place, Trevor Siemian nearly led the Broncos to a comeback victory, and not only did Lynch have to leave the game, but he is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with an ankle injury.
Josh Gordon has not played in the NFL since the 2014 season, but that is all going to change this Sunday. Gordon is expected to be active for the Cleveland Browns’ matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, which should give the Browns a bit of a boost on offense. The wideout was one of the better players at his position during the 2013 seaso when he led the NFL in receiving yards.
