Premier League matchweek 14: Staff picks and predictions
By Staff
The FanSided soccer staff make their predictions for the weekend’s Premier League games, including Watford vs. Manchester United at Vicarage Road.
The Premier League features a full slate of midweek games this Tuesday and Wednesday. The highlight comes at Vicarage Road, where Manchester United face in-form Watford, fresh off a 3-0 win away to Newcastle at the weekend.
Marco Silva’s side have been one of the surprises of the season, and are in eighth place after 13 matches thanks to strong performances from a host of new signings, including Andre Gray, Will Hughes and 20-year-old Brazilian Richarlison.
They host a Manchester United side in somewhat indifferent form. The Red Devils have won three and lost two of their last five matches, and struggled to beat Brighton at the weekend, winning 1-0 thanks to an own goal by Lewis Dunk.
They’ll need to improve if they hope to beat the Hornets, who have improved significantly under Silva. Richarlison has been particularly impressive, a key part of an attack that has scored the sixth most goals in the league. They’ll face a United defense that has conceded only six goals.
The other standout fixtures of the week see Tottenham travel to Leicester hoping to get back on track after a draw and a loss; Manchester City host Southampton, fresh off a 4-1 battering of Everton; and Everton face West Ham in a match between desperately underperforming teams.
