A Florida State fan came at Jimbo Fisher about loyalty on Wednesday, and he was promptly kicked out of the coach’s call-in show.
With the Texas A&M Aggies job open following the firing of Kevin Sumlin last weekend, the hot name to fill the position is that of current Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher. As a matter of fact, the rumors have become so hot that there are some who believe a deal already may be done and Fisher will be the head coach in College Station following the Seminoles’ last game this coming weekend.
Talk of Fisher, who has won a national championship in Tallahassee after taking over for the legendary Bobby Bowden, leaving the program has led die-hard Florida State fans to feel pretty salty. Some of them want to know just where Fisher is in regards to loyalty, given that the popular belief is that he is going to bolt sooner rather than later.
Well, one fan, in particular, took the chance to question the coach about this himself. And he paid the price for it.
Despite all the talk of leaving, Fisher was still contractually obligated to participate in his weekly call-in show on Wednesday. During the show, one passionate FSU fan who was given the mic wanted Fisher to tell him where the loyalty to the Tallahassee school was with him. Of course, this led to his dismissal from the premises.
To start, this may have seemed like a bad idea to put Fisher out there in front of the public, but he is actually obligated to do the show while he’s still the head coach at Florida State. Rumors or not, he’s still coaching the Seminoles.
Next, this is something no fan should ever do. Sure, you’re passionate about your favorite program, but it’s not the fan’s place to question what another adult does with their life and career.
That said, though … Fisher may only have to deal with this for a few more days.
