College football: Championship Weekend TV schedule and predictions
It’s Championship Weekend in college football and you don’t want to miss the big games on the schedule this week so be sure to keep our TV guide handy so you don’t miss the games you want to see.
I hope you’ve cleared your schedule and are planning a weekend full of college football. It’s championship weekend and four of the conference championship games from the Power 5 could see the winner of those games make the College Football Playoff. While the winners from the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten and SEC appear to be in the most control of their destiny, the same can’t entirely be said for the Pac-12. Stanford and USC meet in a rematch of their September showdown won by the Trojans who won by 18.
While the Power 5 conference championship games are sure to command the most interest, the Group of Five conference championship games also demand your attention. The UCF Knights and Memphis Tigers are two of the best teams in the country with two of the most explosive offenses. Both teams also have hot coaching commodities who could be on the move after the weekend. UCF’s Scott Frost is tied to the opening at his alma mater Nebraska while Norvell could be the top target at Arkansas.
Florida State is accustomed to playing for championships, but that isn’t the case this year for the Seminoles who are playing this weekend to keep their bowl hopes alive. Florida State has the nation’s longest active bowl streak and needs a win over Louisiana Monroe to pick up their sixth win of the year. This game was originally scheduled earlier in the year but was canceled due to a hurricane. The game was only rescheduled when it became clear that Florida State may need it to become bowl-eligible.

Certainly, some of the lower-level games are okay to pass up in favor of the bigger schools who have much more to play for. Having said that, if you’re a fan of the smaller programs, I know you’ll be watching and I hope your team ends their season on a high note.
