We’re getting ready to see the Dallas Cowboys host the Washington Redskins on Thursday Night Football. Which team will prevail in this contest?
After squandering a 15-point lead in the closing minutes of a 34-31 overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 11, the Washington Redskins followed that up with a 20-10 triumph over the visiting New York Giants on Thanksgiving night.
The Dallas Cowboys could only be so lucky. A 5-3 record has morphed into three consecutive losses, each by at least 20 points. Minus running back Ezekiel Elliott, Jason Garrett’s club has scored a combined 22 points and one touchdown in lopsided losses to the Atlanta Falcons (27-7), Philadelphia Eagles (37-9) and Los Angeles Chargers (28-6).
Despite their recent misery, the Cowboys have prevailed in their last three meetings in this longtime rivalry. Can Garrett’s team somehow get back on track?
Odds
Line: Redskins (-1)
Over/Under: 44
Although both of these clubs own identical 5-6 record and the Cowboys are at home for the third consecutive week, it’s the Redskins that are a surprising 1-point road favorite (courtesy of OddsShark) when it comes to this matchup. Given the state of both defenses at the moment, the over/under of 44 appears to be somewhat conservative.

Things could not be any worse these days when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys. In recent seasons, the team was able to mask its defensive deficiencies with their offensive line and ground attack. With Elliott still serving his suspension, this is simply not the same attack. But one thing has been obvious and that’s Dallas’ play against the Washington Redskins in recent seasons. Jay Gruden’s defense remains suspect to say the least and the feeling here is that the Cowboys have at least one more good effort inside them.
Pick: Cowboys 21, Redskins 20
