Thursday’s new episode of CBS‘s SWAT sees the real cops taking on the fake cops, with the added bonus of a guest appearance by the real mayor of Los Angeles. How’s that for surreal?

Season 1, episode 5 is called “Imposters,” and involves Deacon (Shemar Moore) and his team trying to stop a burglary crew posing as fellow SWAT cops, but they suspect that catching the criminals will involve exposing the secrets of the victims. Almost more interesting than that is the subplot, which has Deacon (Jay Harrington) and Luca (Kenny Johnson) on celebrity bodyguard duty.

SWAT season 1 brought in retired NHL player John Scott to play the fictional NHL star and also hired Los Angeles’ real-life mayor Eric Garcetti to play Bobby’s agent. So there’s a lot of star power in this week’s episode, and it’ll be interesting to see how the celebs play their parts. You don’t often see a sitting mayor turn up on a TV show, and certainly not pretending to be someone else!

"When a series of home invasions are committed by SWAT imposters in an upscale neighborhood, Hondo and the team suspect the burglarized families are all hiding something. Also, when Deacon and Luca are assigned to protect a visiting professional hockey player who is receiving death threats, his penchant for trouble becomes a complication."
