For the first time under Jupp Heynckes, Bayern Munich lost a game. The defending Bundesliga champions lost 2-1 to Borussia Monchengladbach. Despite the loss, Bayern are still three points ahead of RB Leipzig in the table. On Saturday, Bayern host Hannover, who are 10th in the table with 19 points.
Bayern fell behind 2-0 to Monchengladbach at halftime and were unable to find an equalizer in the final 15 minutes after Arturo Vidal scored in the second half. Injuries have caught up to Bayern in the midfield and on the wing, forcing Heynckes to give youth academy players their debut. James Rodriguez was injured against Monchengladbach and will likely miss Saturday’s game. Rodriguez joins, Manuel Neuer, Franck Ribery, David Alaba, and Thiago on the sidelines. However, Bayern might get Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller back after recently practicing with the squad.
Hannover got off to a strong start to the season in their first season back in the Bundesliga, picking up 12 points in their first six games. However, they have struggled in their last seven games, picking up only seven points. Defensively, André Breitenreiter has his squad playing well, allowing the sixth fewest goals in the Bundesliga.
