FOXBORO, MA - NOVEMBER 26: Rob Gronkowski

Even Bill Belichick thought Rob Gronkowski’s late hit on Tre’Davious White was ‘bulls***’.

Rob Gronkowski is probably going to be hearing from the league after what he pulled in Buffalo on Sunday. During the Patriots pile-driving of the Bills, Gronkowski must have thought he was inside a WWE ring.

The play in question saw Gronk launch himself into a defenseless Tre’Davious White, who was on the ground following a play. It was a hit that came well after the whistle was blown and upon every viewing — including the live look — was inexcusably cheap.

After the game, cameras caught Bill Belichick admitting to Sean McDermott that the play was cheap and apologized, calling it ‘bulls***’.

Belichick is usually a company man — since he’s the company — but this was a nice show of humanity. Even he couldn’t spin this into anything other than it was, and now it’s a question of whether the league will get involved.

A suspension for Gronk is almost unimaginable, but he’ll likely be lighter in the pocket because of this. For what it’s worth, he apologized after the game but maintained that he felt justified because he wasn’t getting any calls.

I mean, you’re supposed to not dole out a cheap shot. That should go without saying, but apparently, Gronk missed the memo. Props to Belichick for owning up to it and apologizing.
