The fate of every college football contender rests in the hands of one committee. On Sunday, the College Football Playoff Selection Show will ultimately determine which four teams will be competing for the National Championship this season.
The poll has changed throughout the weeks with teams winning and losing, but it’s about to be officially set in stone. With conference championship weekend helping determine who gets in and who gets out.

Just as it is the case every single year, the committee won’t have an easy job on their hands. Some years it can be a little more difficult than others, but with multiple worthy contenders there will always be a debate about the choices.
Fortunately, some games this year served as essentially play-in games. The ACC Championship Game in Charlotte, for example. It is there where the Miami Hurricanes and Clemson Tigers battled it to earn their spot in.

The same goes for the SEC Championship Game between the Georgia Bulldogs and Auburn Tigers. Then of course, there’s a team like Alabama sitting right on the outside looking in, hoping that the committee will forgive their one loss and put them in.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to what the committee believes is the best four teams at the time of their selection. There have been surprising choices made before and it won’t be surprising to see any more shocking decisions this year. The show will officially begin at noon on ESPN and can be seen via the WatchESPN app on a live stream.
