The 2017 Heisman Trophy presentation is on Dec. 9 at 8:00 p.m. ET. We know somebody is winning the trophy, but just how long is the entire presentation?
It’s the most celebrated individual award in North American sports. Once a college football player wins the Heisman Trophy, he has been immortalized as one of the greatest players in the sport all-time. It’s an exclusive brotherhood of football excellence that all who have played sport wish they could be a part of.
This year, the trophy presentation will be on Dec. 9, beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET. The trophy will be handed out at the Marquis Theatre in Times Square in Manhattan on Saturday night, but just how long are we going to have to watch the telecast on ESPN before we have a winner?
It begins at 8:00 p.m. ET, but it should only take about an hour of your time to watch the ceremony. You’re looking at the winner being announced in the last quarter of the hour as it always is when the trophy is being handed out.
We’ll have to hear the background stories of all three to six Heisman finalists. All of the finalists will have their brains picked about what it would mean to win the award for their school and their family. There is a good chance that the finalist’s parents will get to join their son on stage for an interview of some sort.
Once we have introduced the finalists, then the former winners will be on the stage to await the newest member to their football brotherhood. Not all living former winners will be there, as some are in declining health and others might be playing in the NFL. They have a game to get ready for in Week 14.
