Stephen Curry injury update: Warriors star’s x-rays come back negative

OAKLAND, CA - OCTOBER 17: Stephen Curry

Breathe easy for now, Warriors fans. Dubs star Stephen Curry’s X-Ray results have come back negative.

Panic and worry engulfed Golden State Warriors fans on Monday night. Not just because DeMarcus Cousins and Kevin Durant got into a scrap that sent both All-Stars to the back. But also because the Warriors’ centerpiece injured himself. Stephen Curry twisted his ankle in the Warriors’ tilt against the New Orleans Pelicans. The injury was bad enough that Curry had to leave the game.

Luckily for the Warriors sake, they’re so deep that they were able to win the game by double digits. The 125-115 final brought a sigh of relief to fans in the Bay Area, but the concern was certainly still on Curry’s health. However, for now, there should be no worries among the team and fanbase. The Warriors star underwent an X-Ray shortly after the injury he sustained against the Pels. The news out of New Orleans now is that Curry’s X-Rays came back negative, ruling out any structural damage to his ankle.

Granted, the scene wasn’t so happy following the game. Curry walked out of the arena while on crutches, with his ankle wrapped up. That may just be a precaution, but it’s good to know, at least, that he didn’t break his ankle or have any kind of fracture. The possibility is there that he could’ve sprained it. But, that’s a much easier injury to come back from than a broken bone or three.

The Warriors’ schedule from here on out is a little gritty. After a trip to 9-14 Charlotte, Golden State will face 14-9 Detroit in The Motor City. Then they’ll face Portland next Monday before it lightens up against Dallas the following Thursday. Without Curry in the lineup, Golden State does have the luxury of having a legitimate super-team around him. The hope, though, is that this injury doesn’t have any long-term effects. For now, everything is calm after these X-Rays, at least.
