The Champions League round of 16 draw will be held on Monday, Dec. 11 at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
The Champions League group stage wraps up this week, with 16 teams advancing to the knockout stage of the tournament. After five games, eight teams have already qualified for the round of 16, while 14 teams are competing for the final eight spots in the round of 16. On Monday, Dec. 11, the Champions League round of 16 draw will be held at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland at 6 a.m. E.T.
Eight teams have already qualified for the knockout stages. Barcelona, Manchester City, Besiktas and Tottenham won their groups and will be seeded teams. While Real Madrid finished second and will be unseeded. Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have qualified for the round of 16 but their seeding will be determined in their final group stage games.
The teams who finished first in their group are seeded and will be drawn against the unseeded second-place teams. Teams that were in the same group and from the same domestic league cannot be drawn against each other in the round of 16. For example, Tottenham can’t be drawn with Real Madrid because they were in the same group and Barcelona can’t draw Real Madrid because they both play in La Liga. However, Real Madrid can be drawn with Manchester City in the round of 16.
The teams who won their group will host the second leg of their round of 16 draws. The first leg of the round of 16 will be played on February 13-14 and 20-21 with the second leg on March 6-7 and 13-14.
