The 2017 NFL season has been a terrible one for the New York Giants, who fired their general manager and head coach on Monday morning.

When it comes to the 2017 NFL season, there are few bigger dumpster fires than the New York Giants. Last week, head coach Ben McAdoo benched legendary quarterback Eli Manning for Geno Smith, and on Monday, he was no longer the head coach. Team owner John Mara fired not only McAdoo but also general manager Jerry Reese, as the organization figured it was time to clean house.

In a corresponding move, it looks like Manning will begin a new starts streak. With his benching last weekend, Manning’s streak of 210 games started was snapped, much to the dismay of Giants fans all over. New head coach Steve Spagnuolo inserted Manning back into the starting lineup on Monday, and he will be under center when the Giants take on division rival Dallas this weekend.

On Sunday, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski made one of the more egregious penalties we have seen in a long time. After Buffalo Bills rookie cornerback Tre’Davious White picked off Tom Brady, Gronk drove his shoulder into White as he was defenseless on the ground out-of-bounds, drawing a penalty. On Monday, the league suspended Gronk for one game, though he will appeal.

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith saw his season end via a torn Achilles tendon this Sunday, and then he was suspended for four games. Smith was found in violation of the league’s policy on PEDs, and will serve his suspension while injured. With four games left in the season, Smith will be eligible for the Ravens season opener in 2018, so the suspension will end up not costing the team in any way.

Finally, it looks like Aaron Rodgers may be inching towards a return to the starting lineup in Green Bay. The Packers picked up a huge overtime win on Sunday, as they moved to .500 on the season, and are fully in the race for a playoff spot. Rodgers broke his collarbone four weeks ago, but is throwing 65-yard dimes in practice, and is currently awaiting medical clearance. Getting him back instantly makes the Pack a contender once again.
