It took until Week 13 of the 2017 NFL season, but Jimmy Garoppolo made his first start for San Francisco, and looks like he will remain there.
In Week 14 of the 2017 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers will have both of their quarterback healthy. Unfortunately for C.J. Beathard, the team is going to stay with Jimmy Garoppolo, who led the 49ers to their second win of the season in his first start for the team Sunday. Jimmy G has earned the respect of his coaches, and his teammates, and while it took five field goals to beat the Chicago Bears Sunday, a winner wins games.
The Monday Night Football matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals brought some scary plays, including one that included Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier. The defensive leader for the Steelers drove his head into Bengals wideout Josh Malone’s thigh, and lost movement in his lower extremities. There was some positive signs Tuesday, as he had some feeling in his lower extremities, but the next couple of days will be crucial to his long-term prognosis.
Staying with that MNF game, there were a couple of suspensions handed out as well, and one actually was not given to Vontaze Burfict. In fact, it was Burfict who was flattened by Steelers rookie wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster, who proceeded to taunt Burfict by standing over him. Bengals safety George Iloka was also suspended in the game, as he had a brutal hit on Antonio Brown after brown scored the game-tying touchdown. Both players will be suspended one-game, and there has been no word on appeals.
Eli Manning will be back under center for the New York Giants this Sunday, as division rival Dallas comes into Metlife Stadium. Manning was unceremoniously benched by then-head coach Ben McAdoo, who has since been fired. General manager Jerry Reese was also fired by the organization, who named defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo interim head coach. The move back to Manning was a no-brainer, as Metlife might have been empty if Geno Smith made his second start this weekend.

The talented James will not play in Florida State’s bowl game, and will instead get himself prepared for next April’s draft.
