1. Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M (2012)

Of course Johnny Manziel is No. 1 on this list. Who else would it be?

Say what you will about his personality, wrongdoings and antics while with the Texas A&M Aggies, but Johnny Football was absolutely electric when he was on the field. He may have spent only two seasons as the starter, but by god were they unbelievably entertaining seasons to watch. Right out of the gate he lived up to his moniker as a freshman, become the first-ever frosh to win the Heisman Trophy.

In 13 games that season Manziel completed 68 percent of his throws while tossing the pigskin for 3,706 yards, 26 touchdowns and only nine interceptions. As good as he was hurling the rock, though, he was every bit as electric as a runner. He rushed the ball 201 times on the season to amass 1,410 yards on the ground and find the end zone a miraculous 21 times with his legs. He was truly sensational from the moment he touched the field.

Given all of the baggage and his size, though, there were concerns about Manziel in the NFL and rightfully so. Still, that didn’t stop the Browns from taking him 22nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. How did that go? Well, Johnny Football was pedestrian on his best day when on the field. Off the field, however, is where the real problems surfaced.

Simply put, Manziel’s life spiraled out of control with his partying and lifestyle off the gridiron, ultimately forcing the team to release him in 2016. He’s since seemingly sought help and been looking for a comeback attempt, but has yet to get a viable shot.
