Baker Mayfield won the coveted Heisman Trophy on Saturday. Here he is as he accepts the award.

Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield is the 2017 Heisman winner.

Mayfield won the trophy on Saturday, beating out Bryce Love and Lamar Jackson. His victory was certainly without controversy, as the OU QB was terrific all year long. Despite a few incidents that came about, in which he showed a bit of arrogance, he still won by a hearty amount. His 732 first-place votes outclassed everyone, as no one else could fetch even 100. There was really little doubt, even though Jackson and Love were great candidates themselves for the honor. Mayfield was superior to them all, and he received recognition in New York.

In case you missed Mayfield’s acceptance speech, we’ve got it right here:

Mayfield certainly did his best to quell any doubts about his mannerisms in this speech. He seemed relaxed throughout his speech, even while trying to take in the moment. It was particularly awesome to see him shout both Love and Jackson out, as well as their families. That was probably the best moment of the speech, or at worst the second-best, depending on what you think of Billy Sims.

Which, you knew that something had to be coming with Sims. The Sooner legend has a penchant for making his presence felt at Heisman ceremonies. His boisterous “BOOMER!” is as linked to the event as the presentation itself. The fact that an Oklahoma player won it only assured he would loudly shout it out. Sure enough, the former running back did exactly that. It was especially funny to hear Baker mention him at the start of the speech.

All in all, a worthy speech from a worthy winner. Congrats again, Baker. Don’t celebrate too long, though. Georgia looms at the Rose Bowl, in what should be a dandy CFB Playoff semifinal.
