Huddersfield and Brighton were both promoted into the Premier League season. Predictably, both teams are in the bottom half of the table and could be facing a relegation battle if they don’t start picking up points. Brighton are 12th in the league with 17 points. Huddersfield are in 16th place, trailing the Seagulls by two points. On Saturday, the Terriers host Brighton at John Smith’s Stadium.
David Wagner’s team have lost four straight games and seven of their last nine. The Terriers are only five points above the drop zone and badly need to end their losing streak. Huddersfield have struggled to score goals this season. Only Crystal Palace and Swansea have scored fewer goals than the nine Huddersfield have scored. Defensively, Huddersfield are equally as bad, allowing 26 goals. Only Everton, Stoke, and West Ham have allowed more goals. Wagner will need to get more out of his team if they want to avoid being one and done in the Premier League.
Brighton have been slightly better than Huddersfield this season. The Seagulls 13 goals rank in the bottom third of the league but their 19 goals against ranks in the middle of the pack. However, that number looks a lot worse after losing 5-1 to Liverpool last weekend. The Seagulls have lost two of their last three games, losing to Liverpool and Manchester United. However, the club has picked up 10 points over their last eight games. Glenn Murray and Pascal Groß have been the best offensive players for the Seagulls. Murray leads the club with five goals, while Groß has three goals and five assists.
