Tottenham beat Stoke 5-1 at Wembley on Saturday, Dec. 9. Here are all the highlights from the match.

Tottenham beat Stoke 5-1 on Saturday, dominating a woeful Potters team in the second half after they went in at the break leading only 1-0. Spurs easily could have scored eight or nine, and ended their four-match winless run in emphatic style.

The first 20 minutes was poor from both sides, with neither keeper being called into action, but the game came to life after Tottenham’s opener. Heung-min Son deserves most of the credit, beating his man and drilling in a low cross that deflected off Kurt Zouma, then Shawcross, on its way past Jack Butland.

Son could have doubled the lead five minutes later, when he intercepted Xherdan Shaqiri’s corner, ran the full length of the pitch and hit his shot straight at Butland, with Harry Kane and others wide open in support. Eriksen and Kane also went close before halftime.

The Potters showed some threat on the break, with Xherdan Shaqiri once again their most dangerous player, but were undermined again by their porous defense, which has now conceded more goals than any team in the league.

Tottenham were rampant in the second half, as Stoke’s defense crumbled. Son made it two in the 53rd minute, rolling past Butland following Dele Alli’s pass, and Kane made it three a minute later, heading in under little pressure.

From there, it was a matter of damage limitation for Stoke, and they failed to limit the damage. Kane added a fourth, Eriksen a fifth and almost every other member of the Spurs attack had opportunities to make it six late on.

Shawcross pulled one back for Stoke in the 80th minute, thanks to an error by Hugo Lloris, but it was barely even a consolation for what was an awful, awful performance.

Tottenham move up to fifth with the win, but will fall back down to sixth if Arsenal draw or beat Southampton on Sunday. Stoke are down in 15th, three points clear of the relegation zone.
