Philly is hurting: Joel Embiid scratched from 76ers game moments after Wentz injury
Shortly after Carson Wentz was ruled out of the Eagles game, 76ers star Joel Embiid was scratched due to back tightness.
Not a great few minutes for Philadelphia sports fans. First, Carson Wentz left the field during the Eagles-Rams Sunday game with a knee injury to the extremely concerned looks of the medical staff. He was almost immediately ruled out for the rest of the game, leaving the fate of Eagles fans’ Sunday night with Nick Foles at quarterback.
Meanwhile, in New Orleans, Joel Embiid, noted Eagles fan and 76ers Process incarnate, was ruled out of the Sixers game against the Pelicans with back tightness.
Unsurprisingly, while Foles and Sixers replacement starter Amir Johnson do their very best to do right by Philly fans, said fans are having minor meltdowns and crises of faith on the social media platforms of their choice.
With the amount of news Philly fans are working with on this previously fine Sunday, Wentz is the considerably more concerning development, on the eye test (he was really limping!) alone. (Early internet doctors are guessing its an ACL tear.) That said, back soreness and/or a history of back injury was not on anyone’s radar for Embiid, so the fact that the 76ers medical staff may be dealing with something serious with the city’s great seven-foot hope is…concerning to say the least.

At the moment, there’s no official word on Carson Wentz’s knee or Joel Embiid’s back, but Eagles and 76ers fans have certainly had better back-to-back push alerts. As we wait, pray for Philly fans, including but not limited to Kobe Bryant, in their hour of need.
