After a productive 14-year NBA career, forward Matt Barnes announced Monday on Instagram that he is retiring.

Matt Barnes won’t be getting under the skin of opposing players anymore.

The journeyman, well-known for his trash talk and aggressive defense, called it quits months after winning his first NBA championship with the Warriors last season. The team signed Barnes when starting small forward Kevin Durant left the lineup with an injury in February, and kept him as a reserve wing for their third consecutive Finals run.

In an Instagram post, the UCLA alum said “Had a cool 15yr run!! Traveled the world met alota cool people, some will be brothers for the rest of my life!” Barnes always had a knack for frustrating opposing players, and was sought after by championship-caliber teams throughout his career. He played for eight teams in 14 seasons.

Barnes told the Sacramento Bee in November, “Not that I was acting, but I was the bad guy, the NBA bad guy.” That night, he received his championship ring from Golden State.
