In ten minutes of play, New York Knicks forward Michael Beasley fouled out of the game and garnered a standing ovation.
There was a time Michael Beasley was on the road to NBA stardom. Off-the-court issues have since negated that, but Beasley, nearly ten years since he was drafted number one overall, is still here. Beasley is now considered a journeyman, playing the role of a contributor off the bench for the New York Knicks. Beasley is averaging just 15 minutes but is scoring just over 8.2 points per game on 54 percent shooting.
So one could say that the Knicks organization and fanbase must have a great appreciation for his play. The fans proved that last night in a 111-107 victory against the Atlanta Hawks. Beasley, in only ten minutes of action, fouled out in the fourth quarter. A standing ovation was provided by the crowd for his efforts.
Per Dane Carbaugh of Yahoo! Sports, Beasley racked up three fouls in a relatively quick manner.
"Beasley appeared to be a bit overexcited to get some run late in Sunday’s win over the Atlanta Hawks, 111-107. Having played just 10 minutes in the game, Beasley quickly racked up three fouls in the span of one minute and 45 seconds. That earned him his sixth foul — the others were picked up earlier — and a standing ovation from the Madison Square Garden crowd after his disqualification."

In his time on the court, Beasley only scored one point. Still, Knicks fans showed their gratitude for the effort by a former star on the rise, that’s now relegated to the bench. Players destined for stardom can have a hard time adjusting to not being the spotlight player. But, the Knicks have stability in Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kristaps Porzingis, so Beasley’s bench role fits.
