Patriots at Dolphins: Highlights, score and recap
On Monday night in South Florida, the New England Patriots were stunned by the Miami Dolphins. What did we learn from this primetime showdown?
So, can the New England Patriots keep pace with the Pittsburgh Steelers? That sounds kind of odd because it’s Bill Belichick’s club that is the reigning Super Bowl champion.
In this instance, we’re referring to the fact that the Steelers clinched the AFC North on Sunday and own an 11-2 record. This Sunday at Heinz Field, Pittsburgh welcomes the Pats in what could be a matchup between 2017 division champions and clubs with identical records.
For that to happen, New England hoped to knock off the Miami Dolphins on Monday night. However, New England looked a little sluggish early on and actually trailed the ‘Fins at halftime, 13-10. Adam Gase’s club would extend that advantage to 27-10 in the third quarter. The Pats would stage a modest rally but saw their eight-game winning streak end via a 27-20 setback.

Three Stars
1. RB Kenyan Drake
He was the best player on the field on Monday night. Drake carried 25 times for 114 yards and added five receptions for 79 yards in the Dolphins’ Monday night upset.
2. QB Jay Cutler
The much-maligned signal-caller completed 25 of 38 passes for 263 yards and three touchdowns without an interception as Miami avenged a 35-17 loss two weeks ago in Foxborough.
3. CB Xavien Howard
The rising star recorded zero tackles in the team’s 27-20 triumph. But, he picked off Tom Brady twice and also totaled three passes defended in Miami’s stunning win.

Odds
Just before kickoff, the gang at OddsShark had the defending Super Bowl champions as a 10.5-point favorite to extend their road winning streak to 15 consecutive games. But the Pats wound up coming up short on Monday evening. The over/under heading into this clash at Hard Rock Stadium was 48. Missed it by that much.
Next Week
The 10-3 New England Patriots play their third consecutive road game and it figures to be quite the affair at Heinz Field as Belichick’s club takes on the newly-crowned 2017 AFC North champion Pittsburgh Steelers. The 6-7 Miami Dolphins make their way north to Orchard Park for the first of two meetings in the next three weeks with the Buffalo Bills.
