Patriots at Dolphins: Preview, prediction, odds and pick
We’re getting ready to see the Miami Dolphins host the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football. Which team will prevail in this contest?
In case you fell off the planet this week, you do know that the New England Patriots will take on the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium on Monday night minus tight end Rob Gronkowski. The massive receiving target was the giver last Sunday at Buffalo of a late hit on Bills’ rookie cornerback Tre’Davious White. The disgraceful act cost Gronk a one-game suspension but White (concussion) a whole lot more.
So can we expect to see some spirited play by both teams in prime time? Adam Gase’s club should simply be motivated by the fact that two weeks ago they went to Foxborough and were handed a 35-17 loss. It was the third straight setback to the Pats and in each contest the Dolphins allowed 31 or more points. So what will we see on Monday night in South Florida?
Odds

Courtesy of OddsShark, the Patriots are double-digit favorites to make it four straight wins in this longtime AFC East rivalry. The over/under is 47 and it’s worth noting that the last three contests between these clubs have seen a combined total of 55, 49 and 52 points, respectively.

The New England Patriots have won eight consecutive games since the team’s 2-2 start. They have limited each of their last eight foes to 17 points or less. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins can’t seem to get out of their own way these days. Even in last Sunday’s win over the Broncos, Gase’s club committed three turnovers. Simply put, it’s hard to imagine the ‘Fins defense slowing down Tom Brady and company.
Pick: Patriots 33, Dolphins 20
