Star Wars: The Last Jedi soars into theaters this weekend, but can you skip the long theater lines and watch The Last Jedi online?

Star Wars fans everywhere are buying tickets and making plans to catch Star Wars: The Last Jedi this weekend, as the latest film in the franchise opens Friday, Dec. 15. But can you watch The Last Jedi online?

It’s tempting to look for a Star Wars: The Last Jedi live stream and skip what’s definitely going to be a crazy opening weekend. Tickets may be sold out at your local theater, and even if you’ve got a ticket, fans will be lining up well in advance so that they can get the best seats.

Plus, with the price of concessions and how the theaters will almost certainly be packed, no one can blame you if you’d rather sit home and find out what happens to Rey and the rest of her fellow Resistance members and watch The Last Jedi online.

But the truth is that you don’t want to go that route, regardless of all the stuff that we’ve just mentioned above. While you can possibly find a stream through the usual sources of Periscope or YouTube or torrents, those are all illegal uploads and you don’t want to be that guy or gal with the illegal download.

This is the very example of a Hollywood blockbuster — a well-known franchise putting out the latest big and very expensive chapter with all kinds of special effects and action sequences and big names. This is the kind of film that you want to watch in a theater. Yes, the tickets might be a bit hard to get, and it’s going to be packed, but that battle between the Resistance and the First Order will be so much more fun in a theater full of cheering fellow Star Wars fans.

So don’t be that person who tries to watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi online or find a Star Wars: The Last Jedi live stream. Go out and see it in person. And if you want to avoid the crowds, don’t forget that many theaters are offering advance showings as early as 7 p.m. in some areas.
