Designated Survivor’s epic season 2 winter finale airs tonight as First Lady Alex Kirkman faces off with FBI Director John Forstell.
There’s no way out on Designated Survivor’s midseason 2 winter finale. First Lady Alex Kirkman will finally have to give her testimony to FBI Director John Forstell regarding the bank account in Saint Lucia. It all goes back to Icarus Astrotech contracts officer Eric Little, who was involved in a bribe with Alex Kirkman’s mother, Eva Booker.
Though the widowed Booker is guilty of the bribe charge, she did it to save her husband’s life by pushing him up the heart transplant list. However, it opened up a pandora’s box by enabling the angle of a conspiracy. The FBI investigation door was ajar when it was discovered the now deceased Eric Little had opened up a bank account in Alex Kirkman’s name in Saint Lucia. Alex and her mother Eva had been vacationing in Saint Lucia at the time, and well it doesn’t look good on paper.
The First Lady attempted to convince President Kirkman to fire Forstell last episode. She wanted him to do it for her as a husband, regardless of his Presidential duties for objectivity. President Kirkman, was not only disappointed but reminded her that they’re innocent and only her mother Eva is guilty in all of this.
Is there a possibility the constant need to deflect by the First Lady is a hint? A clue that Alex Kirkman really did have Eric Little open up the account in her name? Or could this be a grand scheme to separate the Kirkman family for other purposes?
Meanwhile, the shadow of Patrick Llyod continues looming. Perhaps, this was all part of Lloyd’s plan or maybe even the First Lady is in on the whole thing. Is Lloyd still potentially alive regardless of drone attack? It’s only assumed Llyod’s gone because of his building’s destruction following the drone.
Then there’s another key part of this equation, MI-6 agent Damian Rennett. Chuck Russink reported key info to FBI agent Hannah Wells last episode that ended up putting Rennett in a negative spotlight. All while agent Wells was in the middle of more than friendly relations with Rennett. The Information reveals Rennett to be a potential ‘bad guy’ in the time frame remembered by Wells.

There will be a showdown tonight between Wells and Rennett. However, it’s still unclear if Rennett is friend or foe to Wells. Is the whole relationship a ruse? Is he using his intimate relationship and so-called move to stay in the U.S. as a way of staying close to agent Wells’ info. After all, Wells keeps a close relationship with President Kirkman’s administration. Presenting a perfect match for a follower of Patrick Lloyd to latch on to…
What is President Kirkman screaming in devastation about in the trailer for tonight’s midseason winter finale? Is Alex Kirkman simply guilty of the allegations presented by John Forstell? Or is it even worse than we can even imagine… Either way, it seems we might be seeing the last of Alex Kirkman for quite a while after tonight’s midseason winter finale of Designated Survivor!
