The 2016 NFL season was the last for Devin Hester, who retires from the NFL as the man with the most return touchdowns in league history.
Throughout his NFL career, Devin Hester was one of the most feared return men in the history of the league. On Tuesday, that career came to an end, as he announced his retirement via social media. Hester finished his career with 14 return touchdowns, including nine via the punt return, and five during kickoffs. He played a huge role in getting the Chicago Bears to the Super Bowl, and is likely headed for the Hall of Fame.
One of the scariest incidents in the 2017 NFL season was the injury to Ryan Shazier, whose future is still unknown. On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers placed him on injured reserve, ending his 2017 campaign. That was no real surprise, as he recently had spinal stabilization surgery, and the main goal if for him to have a good quality of life after such a horrific injury. Pittsburgh currently has the No. 1 seed in the AFC Playoffs, and will lean on Shazier as a source of inspiration moving forward.
Last weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs had to take on the Oakland Raiders without Marcus Peters, who was suspended one-game by the team. He was reinstated after the game, and will now be counted on to stop the high-flying Los Angeles Chargers offense on Saturday night. Peters is one of the best cornerbacks in all of football, and with how well Darrelle Revis played in his place on Sunday against the Silver and Black, the Chiefs have to be confident with their secondary right now.
With the 53rd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins selected USC safety Su’a Cravens. Prior to the 2017 season, Cravens was placed on the reserve/left squad list, ending his season before it even got started. On Tuesday, Cravens announced he was ready to return to the NFL, as it appears his concussion issues are in the past. Washington is thin in the secondary, so getting him back for 2018 is a big boost for the unit.

Finally, it looks like there is some trouble going on at the NFL Network. Three people were suspended from the network on Tuesday, after being accused of alleged sexual harassment and assault. One of those suspended is NFL Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk, which is a huge black eye for the pristine image of the former Rams legend. Heath Evans and Ike Taylor were also suspended, and ESPN’s Donovan McNabb and Eric Reid were named in the report as well.
